GM rejects Vista - Too much like hard work

Auto maker General Motors has decided that it is too much like hard work trying to get Vista working in the company and will stick to XP until Windows 7 shows up.

Chief Systems & Technology Officer Fred Killeen said that GM had so much difficulty getting Vista to work on its machines that it may just wait for the next version of Windows, due in 2010 or 2011.

Killeen said that many of GM's PCs can't even run the system and by the time they are all replaced Windows 7 might be ready.

He added that there were compatibility problems with all the software that needs to run on Windows.

Most of GM's software vendors cannot promise that their software will work on Vista without problems.

It is the first time that such a high profile name has suggested that it will be ignoring Microsoft Vista as part of its business plan. While Microsoft claims that Vista take up is the same as XP, analysts are convinced that there are some large companies that will follow GM's lead. X
