Piracy drops in India, rises everywhere else - Global software piracy shoots up by 3%, drops 2% in India

Global software piracy has shooted up by 3% but not in India. While India constantly been associated with piracy, it showed a 2% decline from its 2006 level. Software piracy in India has been consistently declining in the last five years.

The effort to bring down PC software piracy has marginally helped in curbing the revenue loss in 67 countries. At the same time, in eight countries the rate of piracy has increased, resulting in a 3% growth worldwide.

On a global basis, PC software valued at $ 126 billion was installed in the year 2007, with only 78% accounted legal, resulting in an estimated loss of $48 billion. X
