“Think you missed out while Google, Yahoo, Ebay, Infosys, became big. Would you not have loved to be part of those companies when they were starting out….well here is your chance. We are a company aspiring to be one of the biggest internet companies in India and here is your chance to join us at a really early stage. We are well funded startup and founded by couple of IIT graduates and we are looking for smart motivated engineers who are passionate about technology and want to make a difference.'
So says the website of Guruji, which hasits corporate office in Koramangala, Bangalore. Guruji is one company which I would say to watch out, for as it is a company which wants to showcase India’s capacity to the rest of the world.
Founded by two IIT Delhi engineers Anurag Dod and Gaurav Mishra, Guruji has formed a niche in the internet search market in India and is go guns in challenging the might of Google and Yahoo.
Guruji.com is the first crawler based search engine developed completely in India and designed to make search simple for Indian users. Its proprietary algorithm automatically identifies content on the web and organizes it in such a way that Indian users get search results that are most relevant, real fast, the company claims.
Sequoia Capital India has invested in this search company. Sequoia was also involved in funding companies such as Google, Yahoo, Apple, Oracle, Cisco and Youtube.
Following the cue from Google, Guruji has launched searches in different languages such as Hindi, Telugu and Kannada and vowed to support more languages. As of now Guruji caters to the need of only the local market, having made an impact. If it goes global, and challenges the Big Guns, that will be interesting indeed. X |
