RFID tags are for products, animals and people

In that order

Scientists at the University of San Antonio in Texas (UTSA) is telling manufacturers how good radio frequency identification devices (RFID) will be.

The university has a dedicated unit called the Center for Advanced Manufacturing and Lean Systems - yeah it should be CALMS but its CAMLS, no not Camels.

The unit told manufacturers that RFIDs can be inserted into 'a product, animal or person' and that's for purpose of identifying things.

A Motorola man went off on one. Scott Denholm, Motorala's manager for RFID business, told the IT Examiner by way of a press release: 'I see a symbiotic relationship in that UTSA is giving back to the community in the engineering environment and they are getting back in learning how the technologies function in the workplace.'

Scott did not say whether Motorola had fitted him with an RFID tag so they knew exactly where he was, and what he was doing. But we are sure the press release has an RFID tag attached to it. X
