With the Internet

After telecom operators, rural India seems to be attracting the attention of Finnish Mobile making company Nokia. The company wants to position itself effectively in the rural Indian market by providing internet based service, micro finance, distribution and ofcourse agricultural services for the rural market.

At a press conference, Nokia corporation president & CEO, Olli- Pekka Kallasvuo said, the company is planning to come up with internet- based service for the rural market soon”, reported the Deccan Herald.

By providing such a service, the company believes it will able to penetrate the rural market which still is untapped. The service will be enabled in mid- range mobile devices also. The company honks its nine Indian language support, but has not yet revealed if the rural penetration will all around India or will it be region specific like Airtel and Spice, you tend to woo only Karnataka.

However, The Examiner, even after several attempts, could not speak with Nokia - it seems the Mobile Company needs to fix-up its telephone line, whichcurrently transfers calls from journalists to exactly nowhere. As of now, the price, possible collaboration with teleco operators, area of operation for Nokia’s untold rural Indian saga is undisclosed. X
