ACT TV launches interactive service

Promises better digital content using IP

ACT Television, a multi system operator (MSO) headquartered in Bangalore, announced the launch of 'ACT Interactive TV' service in the city on Thursday with an investment of $89 million (Rs 450 crore).

With this launch, ACT said it has become the first player to have introduced interactive TV service in Bangalore. ACT said it has utilised the advanced R and D expertise and technology for the IPTV service.

The company claims it is set to revolutionise the Indian television market, 'Interactive TV' is a system that delivers better than digital content services to subscribers using IP over a broadband connection in a closed network infrastructure.

'Interactive TV' is also known as triple play service, which allows television broadcasting, high-speed Internet connection and telephony.

Sunder Raju, MD, ACT Television said 'India is one of the largest cable markets in the world and has tremendous potential. Our aim is to provide our customers with the finest, most reliable and cutting-edge interactive TV service, which is the future of the Indian television market.'

ACT said it would provide numerous features that would be available from the launch itself such as Internet videos, movies on demand, pause and play live TV, 'record a programme while watching another' and media centre. X
