Airtel follows in Vodafone's footsteps

Plans to sell Iphone at same price

By Jayant Mishra in Mumbai @ Thursday, August 21, 2008 3:54 PM

Bharti Airtel will put on display 3G Iphone’s from tomorrow, and has fixed the cost for the iconic device at the same as Vodafone's, which announced its price on Tuesday.

Both operators are offering the phone at hefty prices, certainly way above what Indian fashion victims expected. Some were even hoping that the Iphone would be subsidised by the service providers. An Iphone with an 8GB flash drive will cost $711 (Rs 31,000) and for 16GB, one will have to shell out $828 (Rs 36,100).

Both operators are planning to launch the Iphone at midnight, so no doubt we will be able to see hundreds and hundreds of Apple fans tonight marching towards service providers' outlets. X
