Akamai has released its State of the Internet report. The quarterly report covers current data about attack traffic and broadband adoption, as well as trends over time.
It also includes publicly-available news and information about important events during the quarter, including denial of service attacks, website hacks and network events.
Akamai monitored attack traffic originating from 125 countries around the world during the first quarter. China and the United States accounted for nearly 30 per cent of this traffic. Attacks by worms, viruses, and bots were responsible for the majority of attacks.
South Korea had the highest measured levels of “high broadband” ( greater than 5Mbps) connectivity. Delaware had the highest levels in the US, with over 60 per cent of connections at 5Mbps or greater. Rwanda and the Solomon Islands were among the slowest countries, with 95 per cent or more of connections at below 256Kbps. X
