AMD claims boost for Linux graphics drivers

OpenGL better, firm says

The graphics division of AMD said it has released its 8.49.7 Linux driver and claimed it offers big performance improvements for FireGL professional graphics cards.

Janet Matsuda, senior director of professional graphics at AMD said: 'ATI FireGL graphics accelerators beat the competition in application performance at every price point. In the past we limited this statement to Windows XP and Vista environments.' Now, she said, AMD could make a similar claim for Linux operating systems. X
