Chip maker and wannabe graphics supremo AMD reckons it will nose ahead of Nvidia in the discrete graphics market by 2009.
Perhaps somewhat over-excited by the launch of its ATI Radeon HD 4870 X2 GPU earlier this week, the company says the HD 4800 series has lifted its graphics card market share from 30% to 40% and will reach 50% by the end of the year, beating Nvidia into second place in 2009.
Nvidia thumbed its nose at the AMD claims, saying its GeForce 200 series was obviously better. AMD responded by sticking its tongue out and sneering that the Radeon was by far the best and Nvidia smelled of wee. X
