Whatever chip firm AMD's plans are for asset light, it hasn't stopped executive chairman Hector Ruiz from getting excited about a $3.2 billion fab based in New York State.
The Business Review has a picture of Hector in his hard hat, enthusing about Luther Forest technology park. He says he can't imagine a more beautiful place and claims the site offers AMD a future.
The magazine says AMD is still to sign off on the project. We guess it needs to find an additional $3.2 billion from somewhere. Perhaps if it spun off its fab operations that would work.
AMD is already in debt to the tune of around $5 billion or so, which is not an inconsiderable number. The story is here. X |
