With India’s exports to Netherlands touching $2.06billion (1.3 billion Euro) and the imports amounting to $1.3billion (one billion euro). Amsterdam has welcomed Indian It companies to start up their business in their country.

Lodewijk Asscher, Vice Mayor of the City of Amsterdam, during his official visit to India, has assured India in the hour of financial crisis that they will only prosper if they accepted their invitation.

Asscher, with his delegation said, “Forget about the world financial crisis, our economy is strong and you are welcome to start your business in our country”. He accepted that the global financial crisis is affecting nations worldwide and Amsterdam is no exception. “But considering the fact that ours is a diverse economy and the strong base, we can withstand crisis”.

Around 30 Indian companies have already set their base in Amsterdam, which included Indian IT majors like Wipro, TCS, Satyam, Cognizant and Infosys. Asscher, claims his country is at the IT crossroads of Europe and its proximity to all major cities in Europe will help in reaching out to 350 million customers in a hours time.

However, Asscher’s humble invitation is not just for IT companies, he also wants to collaborate with food and agro industry, logistics and infrastructure, water, life sciences, pharma and health, automotives and design industries.

The country has definitely worked on the short coming that stopped Indian companies from going to Amsterdam. The hassle free system will benefit knowledge workers as of now, and the new government is also keen on making other norms simple and relaxed as well. X
