Apple admits Mobileme cock-up - Pays for wasting their time

Apple has admitted making a pig's ear of its transition from .Mac to Mobileme and will pay up for wasting their time.

When the new Iphone came out, Apple was supposed to move from .mac mobile services to the all singing and dancing Mobileme. Unfortunately it could not get Mobileme to work properly leaving many customers without a service.

In an email Apple said that the transition from .Mac to Mobileme 'was a lot rockier than we had hoped'. Services such as Mail, Idisk, Sync, Back to My Mac, and Gallery seemed to work but Contacts and Calendar didn't. Mobileme crashed completely on launch day too.

Apple has decided to make things better by extending the Mobileme memberships for 30 days. Extensions should be applied to all accounts within 'the next few weeks,' Apple said.

Apple is also deleting references to push technology from its marketing materials because its syncing methods don't actually work that well. Apparently on Macs and PCs 'push' means something instant. On mobile devices it means a speed similar to using a carrier pigeon. X
