Apple fixes Mobileme

27 problems secretly resolved

By Nick Farrell in Rome @ Friday, October 31, 2008 9:39 AM

Apple has released a 27 patch fix for its MobileMe software which has bought to an end the most embarrassing chapter in the iphone 3G launch.

MobileMe was the email service that was supposed to work on the day of the iphone launch, but it worked so spasmodically that Apple had to keep shutting it down and giving its customers their money back.
It did this only after refusing to admit that there was anything wrong with the service and deleting complaints from its forums relating to the problem.
Steve Jobs wrote an email admitting that the service should never have been released during the iphone launch as it was clearly not ready.

Since then users have been waiting for months to get the service up and running.  Now it seems that Apple has rolled out 27 patches to fix the service without telling anyone.

Since MobileMe is a hosted service, Apple made all of the changes on the servers and applications without needing to tell anyone.

However the update means that all aspects of the software have been re-written.

Apple users report that the service now works. X
