Reading the mind of new age mobile users reveals the fact that they want to do much more than just make phone calls, surf the Internet and listen to music on their mobile phones. Apple was quick to capitalise on the changing trends and is readying thousands of applications for its Iphone users.
The applications designed by developers outside the Cupertino technology company, ranges from mobile games to tools for physicians to examine medical scans.
Charles Golvin, an analyst for Forrester Research said “the calculated move by Apple is likely to increase the appeal for Iphones, giving customers more reasons to buy the device”.
Apple also plans to open an application store - an electronic marketplace much like the Itunes music store, but for software - on July 11. Access to the applications store will be part of an Iphone software update, which will be free for the Iphone and $9.95 for the Ipod touch, the touch-screen Ipod. X
