Apple's facial recognition software is cool for cats

If they can get their paws on the keys

Apples new Iphoto face recognition software, which is being peddled with the new Ilife package for Mac computers is apparently good at spotting the difference between cats, provided they are not black.

The software is supposed to make tagging photos in your library much quicker. Once you tell the software who a person is, it will find the same faces in other pics and tags them with that name.

According to Webomatica the software might have have a good sideline in feline recognition. The magazine writer said that he had a lot of snaps of his moggies Java and Lilikoi.

He identified Lilikoi’s face and Iphoto did a remarkably good job of finding other photographs of her. Iphoto was less successful in identifying Java the cat, probably because he has black fur, and his face essentially looks like a black ball with two eyes. X
