| | Apple's Mobileme falls over - Now there's a surprise By Dave Murray @ Friday, July 11, 2008 10:20 AM
Section - Telecoms/Mobile | | | | Apple's much-hyped new data synching service fell over just hours before the next-generation Iphone hit the shops. The $99-per-year Mobileme service was supposed to let people view, update and sync e-mails, calendar appointments and contacts across Iphones, Macs and Windows PCs. The service is a key part of the new 3G Iphone strategy and it was important that it worked properly.
However, yesterday afternoon blogs devoted to Apple news and rumours were full of moaning people who had been blocked from their accounts using their Web browser. Apple refused to say what was going wrong, but admitted that the transition from .Mac to Mobileme was taking longer than expected. Like many Apple products, .Mac has a long history of not working reliably, but most users still loved it. X
