Aussie mayor calls for ugly women

Silly Season Strewth!

By Dave Murray @ Monday, August 18, 2008 10:12 AM

The mayor of a remote mining town in Australia has called for ugly women to move to the town to take advantage of the female shortage.

John Molony told an Aussie newspaper that there were five blokes to every Sheila in Mount Isa and a few 'beauty challenged' birds should show up because they were more likely to score. Since he made his remarks, the council has since been swamped with complaints from both men and women.

Molony has refused to say sorry. He is just telling it like it is in Queensland, he said. Besides he probably thinks those who are complaining are just a bunch of galahs who can't tell one end of a can of Fosters from another. Mount Isa is home to one of the world's biggest underground mines and there are only 819 women aged 20-24 living there out of a total population of 21,421.

According to the charming Molony there are 'beauty-disadvantaged' women out there walking the streets happy because they were getting lots of attention. Molony said that beauty is only skin deep and there was a fairy tale about an ugly duckling that evolves into a beautiful swan.

However, we don't remember ever seeing one that involved an Australian bloke turning into a charming prince. X
