Bangalore is the leading BPO destination - Karnataka beckons

Bangalore has been classified as a leading location for the BPO sector in a report released by NASSCOM in association with AT Kearney on 50 leading locations for the IT-BPO sector.

The report analysed four locations from Karnataka—Bangalore, Hubli-Dharwad, Mysore and Mangalore. The detailed report, ‘location roadmap for IT- BPO growth: assessment of 50 leading cities’ classified Mangalore as a challenger location, and Hubli-Dharwad and Mysore as aspirant locations.

The study shows the potential for the industry in Karnataka, much beyond Bangalore, and also reflects the scope of future investments. NASSCOM and the industry plan to present the recommendations to the government and hopes that the newly formed government will initiate action based on the report.

The study was released at the NASSCOM’s BPO strategy summit 2008, which was the tenth in the series. The event had over 60 speakers and was attended by 600 delegates. X
