Soon after the IT Examiner reported on an information theft by Ahmedabad-based BPO owner, Sunny Vaghela, who claims to represent the victim US company, Noble Ventures in this case talked to us about the case. He also claimed to have played a big role in exposing the accused BPO owner, Maulik Dave.
Sunny Vaghela is also a cyber crime consultant with Ahmedabad crime branch and involved with several other police departments help them bursting the cyber crimes in India.
Vaghela has unfolded the series of events following the information theft and clarified on the actual data stolen. He said the consumer data of Noble ventures was affected but denied of theft of any personal or professional details. He pointed out saying the information was stolen but the actual sales were not made as this plot was deliberately set-up as a part of investigation. He further added claiming the theft report of 12.5 million Americans’ personal and professional records to be untrue as he assumed of some kind of miscommunication between the reporters and the Police.
Earlier, Noble Ventures had given a contract to Dave of business bee solutions for creating and re-designing its website. But on 20th march, 2008, Noble ventures cancelled the contract with Dave’s company owing to the quotation sent by Dave. In the quotation sent by Dave to the Noble Ventures CEO, Robin Lahiri, Dave demanded an increase in the contract money.
After the contract got cancelled, Dave allegedly took the business information of Noble Ventures from its server and tried to make brisk money by selling the valuable information to the competitors of Noble Ventures in US.
Dave was caught in his own web when he called Mike Dorse to sell him the stolen information at $1,000. Dorse is a friend and competitor of Noble Ventures CEO, Robin Lahiri.
The good enough security procedures helped in immediate detection as Dave was later arrested and all his systems were seized.
