British Teleco BT has filed an application with the Indian patent office for a new computer telephony system.
According to the patent application, the "invention provides a method of securely registering an association between a computer terminal and a selected one of a plurality of communications terminals in a computer telephony system."
The new invention would be particularly useful to call centres, where computer telephony systems manage an automatic call distribution suite for secured incoming and outgoing calls.
BT currently maintains a notable presence in India and collaborates with Tech Mahindra, HCL, Infosys, TCS and Wipro. In addition, the company recently signed a collaborative deal with Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) to help clients improve their international converged networks and IT solutions. The partnership will allow both entities to provide a number of packages, including leased line, MPLS VPN, Internet, mobile and broadband.
BSNL is also slated to grant BT access to its pan India broadband network and access services. In exchange, BT will allow BSNL to utilise its international MPLS network and other services, such as network integration, managed security, and remote infrastructure management. X
