BSNL is launching a range of schemes for both pre-paid and post-paid users, including Beetel mobile handsets in two models. The scheme is valid for 15 months from the date of activation, along with a Rs 100 free talk time for the first seven days. In the case of pre-paid connections, the scheme will covert into a pre-paid tariff after 15 months.

The telco is also offering HCL PCs and laptops with broadband connection, with the option of financing from bank or non-banking financial corporations. The PCs, ranging from $480 to $549 (excluding tax), are available in three models, and the laptops are in the range of $630. The scheme for the laptops and PCs in built-in modems does not contain any registration, installation charge or rental.

Other facilities include post-paid and pre-paid PCOs on demand, free broadband with unlimited high-speed internet access for new customers to be offered in technically feasible areas, and allowing customers to surrender the connection within 15 days, if not found satisfactory. Also, with the set-up of Base Terminal Stations (BTSs), wireless landline connections are being improved all over the state. A further 205 BTSs are being added state-wide to increase capacity. X
