The crime branch and cyber crime cell of the Chandigarh police has acquired Cell Dek technology and portable forensic lab (PFL) machine to fight cyber crimes.
The Cell Dek machine can recover call details such as dialled numbers, received and missed calls from mobile phones. The machine can also recover sent and received messages within six minutes. The machine can also retrieve data even if the data were erased from the mobile memory. The police have also acquired Faraday Bag, a new device which makes a mobile phone unreachable for all networks if it is put in the bag.
The PFL machine can recover data from any suspected drives and hard disks. Data recovered are approved in all courts in the world without being challenged. Deputy Superintendent of Police K.I.P. Singh stated that the newly acquired machines were of great help and hoped that they would help make the department's operations more efficient.
S.S. Srivastava, senior superintendent of police of Chandigarh said that the department was well equipped to deal with the challenges posed by cyber crimes in the area. Earlier they had to dependent on other agencies and laboratories. Srivastava said that the department was now self-sufficient. X |
