Citrix Systems has formed a partnership with HP and Intel to offer server virtualisation.
The Citrix XenServer, integrated into Intel-based HP ProLiant servers, should enable businesses to lower costs and improve productivity, says the company.
"Despite the tremendous business benefits that virtualisation offers, industry estimates show that fewer than 15 percent of all servers are virtualised. Our partnership with industry leaders such as HP and Intel reflects our commitment to create greater awareness of the benefits of end-to-end virtualisation technology," explained Nabeel Youakim of Citrix Systems.
As IT Examiner previously reported, Citrix has taken several significant steps to bolster its operations in India. Indeed, the company recently expanded its Bangalore R&D center, which is expected to create at least 500 new engineering jobs.
According to Souma Das of Citrix India, the local company branch has grown 67% year-on-year for the first half of 2008 and increased its customer base by 225 clients. Das also noted that firm maintained 2,500 customers across diverese industries, including HDFC Bank, Mahindra & Mahindra Finance, Newswire 18 & Jet Airways.
It should be noted that Citrix recorded a decline in net income for the period ended in September to $49.1 million, or 26 cents a share, from $60.7 million, or 33 cents a share in the same period a year earlier. However, revenue rose to $398.9 million from $349.9 million.
"We took decisive actions to hold operating expenses flat, introduce new cost efficiency programs, and direct our customer conversations toward the tangible cost savings we provide," said Citrix CEO Mark Templeton. "These factors helped us deliver double digit revenue growth in a tough macro-economic environment." X
