Dell  has shown a growth of 99% in the first quarter in the Indian market in 2008-09, reports PR Wire.

According to Michael Dell, the founder and chief executive officer of Dell, developing markets such as the Philippines, India, Brazil and Russia recorded the fastest growth. The growth was the highest in India. He added that the company’s year-on-year growth in revenue was 50% for each quarter in India and about 70% to 80% in terms of units sold. In India, Dell has a workforce of 13,000 and is the second biggest country in terms of employees after the US.

Dell also announced the launch of “Dell Latitude On”. This allows people to access their emails without switching on the computer.

According to Paul-Henri Ferrand, president for the Asia Pacific region, Dell will not launch its gaming division, Alienware, products in India at present. He said that the gaming laptops in the XPS series will be launched in India when the market shows growth.  X
