Section - Telecoms/Broadband | | | | A group of major electronics firms are joining Sony to create a wireless standard that will shunt video and music around a range of devices.
Japanese wire nikkei.net reported that the 15-firm strong Transferjet Consortium will work to produce specs and standards and will swap data at a rather nifty 560 megabits per second.
The spec will be licence free while the consortium numbers amongst its members Sony, Hitachi, Sony Ericsson, Toshiba, Samsung and Kodak.
Sony is expected to release products using this tech as early as next year, the report said. X
