Miniature maker of CPUs and larger maker of GPUs AMD proudly stood upright today, stretched its chest and bellowed that a few game developers are currently coding away to support DirectX 10.1. DirectX 10.1 is so far only supported by the ATI Radeon HD 3000 and HD 4800 series of graphics cards, which are being offered by AMD. Japanese game studio and big-time loser of the console wars Sega is currently directing a real-time strategy (RTS) game named Stormrise, whilst yank developer Electronic Arts is developing an online fantasy RTS game titled Battleforge. NHN Games also has a role-playing game dubbed Cloud 9 in the works.

DAAMIT triumphantly thumped its chest like a hormonally-challenged gorilla and had spokesdevelopers claim how wonderful and great and visually stunning DirectX 10.1 games are going to look and play on the ATI cards. AMD has a technology demo which can be found here http://ati.amd.com/developer/demos/rhd3000.html and apparently displays the performance increase and "advanced lighting techniques". Thus shall start a new round of graphic cards waggling between arch-rivals Nvidia and ATI, which means we can all expect Nvidia to come up with a similar press release within the next few days. Please note the oversized fan, which is somewhat symbolic of the amount of natural resources the GPU consumes.
