Future Lighting subsidises thermal simulation software

Accelerates development and design cycle

Future Lighting Solutions has confirmed that it will significantly subsidise the cost of its advanced QLED thermal simulation software.

The application assists developers with the selection, placement and simulation of power LEDs mounted in FR-4 boards or MCPCB's. The programme also calculates the estimated luminous flux produced by LED's, allowing users to seamlessly integrate thermal vias, heat sinks and fans.

"Accelerating design cycles and minimising cost and time to market are the main objectives of QLED," Muhamad Moussa, Future's technical marketing engineer, told IT Examiner. "The major advantage of this thermal simulation software is that customers with minimal thermal engineering experience can leverage it for design and optimisation purposes. It is the ideal development tool in today's solid-state industry," said Moussa.

Patrick Durand, worldwide applications manager for Future, noted that QLED users could develop, simulate and optimise thermal designs within "minutes".

Indeed, QED is capable of performing a full system analysis, along with multiple components, including heat sinks, fans and openings. In addition, the software offers unique position and sizing systems based on dynamic relative coordinate technology. Support is also offered for multiple variables and constraints, which helps contribute to a rapid, precise design. X
