The GMR Group has launched a security services training academy in Anantapur, Andhra Pradesh with the plan of generating rural employment opportunities. The academy has been set up with an initial investment of Rs. 35 crore ($8.1m) on a 100-acre plot at Kodikonda on the Bangalore–Hyderabad national highway (NH-7) and will be run by Bangalore-based Raxa Security Services founded by the CMR group.
The security services industry in India is a growing industry worth Rs.4500 crore ($1b). More than 60% of the industry consists of the unorganised sector and organised sector is predicted to grow at a rate of 20% to 25% in a year.
The company provides refresher training programmes and also offers an induction training of 8 weeks to matriculates, who are called Marshals and an induction training of 10 weeks for graduates, who are called supervisors.
The academy is equipped to train 200 people in a batch and has advanced training facilities such as a parade ground, an athletics ground, sports grounds, swimming pool, gymnasium, simulator for firing practice, miniature firing range, technical wing, computer lab and a driving track
The faculty members of the academy include army and police officials trained in security services such as industrial and aviation security, fire safety and disaster management. X |
