California-based Circor Aerospace has chosen India's HCL Technologies to provide it with R&D, engineering and IT services.
According to Scott Kunkler of Circor, HCL offers "value-added engineering and IT transformation services that enable us to focus on our mission of providing high-end value-centric solutions and services for critical aerospace and defense applications."
It should be noted that HCL was the first Indian IT firm to obtain AS9100 certification. In addition, the company maintains a dedicated aersopace business that supplies components to avionics entities, airframe manufacturers, systems integrators and Tier 1 suppliers.
HCL has also stepped up its acquistion efforts. As IT Examiner previously reported, the firm is hoping to borrow up to $833 million to purchase UK-based Axon Group. The amount may be higher than the aggregate of the paid-up capital and capital and free reserves of the company, which means that under the Companies Act 1956, shareholder approval is required.
The company has made a cash offer of 650 pence per share for Axon, in competition with a 600 pence for a share offer made by its Bangalore-based rival Infosys Technologies. HCL's bid - to be recommended by Axon to its shareholders - values the SAP consulting company at about £441 million, and HCL has secured £400 million from Standard Chartered.
During the last three years, HCL has grown both organically and through acquisitions, including forming joint ventures, establishing subsidiaries and buying companies overseas. X
