A verse is a Sloka

Sloka will be the first Indian fixed company to replace DSL and copper wires with WiMAX.

WiMAX, the Worldwide Interoperability for Microwave Access, is a telecommunications technology aimed at providing wireless data over long distances in a variety of ways.

“Wireless connection will connect those who want to be connected to internet but cannot because of the limitations of DSL and copper wire. WiMAX will chafe the arduous installation procedure and will be as simple as getting a mobile phone connection,” said Sujay Kurampuri, the company CEO.

Can an individual directly avail connection from your end? “No we deal with only the dealers, it’s not that we cannot provide connections to individuals but that would need a licence” Sujay said.

Sloka is not alone in the wireless market, there are other players as well. But the company CEO feels that Sloka has the upper hand as it provides very compact base solutions, it’s easy to install, cost effective, has outdoor units and the products are very robust.

With wireless on the internet, the connection tariff is bound to drop down fast and soon rural places in India will also be connected to the web. X
