Section - Telecoms/Fabric | | | | The Indian government has written to UK and Dutch tax authorities to claim details of Hutch-Vodafone transaction to acquire Hutch-Essar.
In midst of year long hullabaloo between Indian tax authorities and Hutch-Vodafone, for overdue tax payment of $2billion, a source close to the development was quoted in the Economic Times, saying Indian government has sought the ‘sale-purchase’ agreement between Vodafone international holdings and Hong Kong’s Hutchison.
The government took this step after a Vodafone spokesperson reportedly said the company believes that there is no such tax due, and that it has been advised not to pay. X
