Section - Outsourcing/Outsourcing | | | | Indian companies have employed more than 30,000 people in the US, according to a joint report by the US-India Business Council (USIBC) and the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI).
Tata Group, Essar and HCL Technologies are among the top Indian firms in the list of employers, reported the Business Standard.
According to the report, the Tata Group, which has invested more than $3 billion in the US market, is the largest Indian investor in the US, where it employs 19,000 people. Presently, Essar employs 7,200 employees in the US of whom only 30 are Indian, although this number is expected to reach 8,500 next year. Since 1989, HCL has created 3,000 jobs in the US. Indian infotech firms Wipro, Satyam and HCL Technologies have employed 16,000 people in the US.
Indian companies preferred various sectors such as pharmaceuticals, healthcare, travel, information technology, luxury hotels, engineering services, and auto parts and steel manufacturing for their investments. X
