Indian government denies writing letter to Huawei

Huawei says it complies with all laws

The Indian Government has denied reports suggesting that it sent a letter to Chinese telco Huawei, accusing the company of disrespecting the laws pertaining to employment regulations and threatening to close its India business.

The denial comes just a day after reports appeared in the press. Huawei has reportedly acknowledged the letter, which may put the telco in an embarrassing situation if the Indian government is to be believed.

In the notice, rumoured to be issued by the Indian Ministry of Labour and Employment, were claims that Chinese employees are working in India without proper work permits and without paying applicable income tax.

The Labour Ministry has come out saying that the attention of the government has been invited to a report published in a section of the press regarding a purported notice given by the Ministry of Labour and Employment to a firm, namely Huawei, on alleged violations of various labour and employment regulations of the country, Telecom Tiger reports.

In a statement, Huawei said that the company strictly complies with Indian laws and regulation, and that it has been contributing to the development of the Indian telecommunications industry and will continue to do so. It says it is confident about normal operations in future. X
