The Indian IT industry is now providing its services to life science companies.

IT firms like TCS, Satyam, Patni and Cognizant are helping life science companies in achieving efficient utilisation of time and money, by managing their data. As the existing infrastructure of life science companies is not sufficiently equipped to maintain increasing data growth, storing, accessing, securing and managing of data, is being outsourced to IT companies.

Debashis Ghosh, VP and Global Head, Life Sciences and Healthcare, TCS said, ‘Indian IT companies have been helping life sciences organisations with services ranging from application development, maintenance, testing and upgrade to global roll out and implementation.’ TCS credits life science business as contributing around five percent of its revenue.

RRsearch firm Life Science Insights has predicted $38.9 billion IT spending in the life science sector by end of 2008. X
