Indian resellers moan about lack of support

Suppliers offer moon on a spoon but fail to deliver

Indian resellers are furious about the way they are being handled by vendors, who they claim make promises they cannot keep.

Speaking at the the IT Panchayat held in Pune, the president of the city's Computer and Media Dealers Association in Pune (CMDA), Shital Nahar, said that distributors promised all sort of help and support while selling their product. However  they duck and pass the onus on to resellers after the sale has been made, he claimed. This was particularly true of cases where the customer opened the box and found that the product didn't work.

One of the answers to the problem was that distributors should not debit the payments that the partner had made on those products for "dead on arrival" goods, or should keep buffer stock for over-the-counter replacement. However, most most distributors present at the meeting said that vendors had them over a barrel with their contracts, and that it was not possible for them to withhold payment for the dead on arrival products.

Red tape means that resellers cannot do anything until and unless a product is certified as a dead on arrival case by the vendor, which takes a long time. X
