Section - Business/Financials | | | | Infosys Technologies is building a Rs 16.5 billion facility - in a classical Roman style, it says - on its 335 acre Global Education Centre in Mysore.
The facility will allow for an additional 9,000 trainees on top of the existing 4,000. It became necessary to expand the structure, as the company’s plan to take on 4,000 trainees in a period of two years was actually achieved within eleven months. The previously-built training centre was inaugurated by Prime Minister Manmohan Singh on February 12, 2005. The campus will consist of a Software Development Centre, GEC and Infosys Leadership Institute.
Ravindra, advisor of Infosys, said, 'When completed, it will be one of the largest corporate investments in educational infrastructure in India, and one of the largest globally.' Nearly 500 faculty rooms and 10,300 residential rooms have been included in a space of six million square feet. Such a vast facility will enable the company to take on 13,000 trainees in a single batch. X
