Infosys is to invest up to AU$1.9 million in cash and lend services to the newly formed Australian Smart Services Cooperative Research Centre (CRC), reported The Hindu. The investment is intended to contribute to the future of Australian IT services.

Gary Ebeyan, chief executive officer of Infosys Australia, said Australia is an emerging market on the global IT stage and that Infosys is pleased to contribute to the development of the industry in such a significant way

The programme was launched on July 3 by senator the Hon Kim Carr, Australian minister for innovation, industry, science and research. This research centre will bring together the best in technology in conjunction with six Australian universities and the government to develop an ambitious R&D programme aimed at creating intellectual property of value to Australia’s service market.
