Infosys seeks software revenue boost

Banking & telecom looking promising

By Debopriya Nandy @ Thursday, October 16, 2008 1:16 PM

Infosys is perhaps inclined upon raising its head amidst the financial dillemma and it is looking to expand its revenue share in the software product segment, alongside pushing into emerging markets aggressively. Hence, apart from having exposure to the banking, financial services and insurance (BFSI) and telecom sector, the company is now getting into introduction of software products for different sectors like media and communication, telecom and retail.

S D Shibulal, chief operating officer, said that most of the products launched by the company in the recent past are getting good response in the emerging and domestic markets. Presently, Infosys earns good money revenue from Finacle, the universal banking product, while general software products don't even contribute four per cent to the company's total revenue.

Infosys last year launched Shopping Trip360, a platform offering real-time visibility into shopper and shelf activities. The solution uses wireless, sensor-based applications within stores, thereby allowing shoppers, retailers and consumer packaged goods companies to collaborate in real-time by creating an 'information ecosystem'. X
