Chip maker Intel confirmed that its notebook 'Montevina' platform - officially dubbed Centrino 2 - won't arrive until July 14th when the firm will ship some chipsets and launch Core and Extreme notebook microprocessors.
The firm told the IT Examiner that it expected to start shipping a complete line of chipsets and wireless chips 'in high volume' towards the end of the month.
It has to 're-screen' the chipsets that come with integrated graphics, and there are also some errors in the terms and conditions for the wireless chips it will ship. Intel did not elaborate on what this actually means.
However, the firm said the delay in Montevina won't affect its financial outlook for its second quarter. Intel said: 'We're doing our best to make sure we meet the critical back to school buying time and have a high state of readiness of all our products to best meet demand.'
A number of OEMs (original equipment manufacturers) are expected to ship Montevina enabled notebooks, including Lenovo, Dell and HP. X
