Intel solid figures may demonstrate AMD weakness - AMD share price fumbles around $5

While the folks at Chipzilla [tick: INTC] no doubt are dancing in their cubicles, we wonder if their counterparts at Chimpzilla [tick: AMD] are feeling quite down in the dumps.

Because,  let’s face it, if Intel’s sales have gone through the roof, it could well mean AMD’s haven’t.

AMD’s share price is hovering around the $5 mark at the moment, while Intel’s stands about $20.  There is, of course, the possibility that X86 sales were extraordinarily buoyant and that means AMD will also be happy but my girlfriend, the fragrant Eva Glass, tell me different. She is close to some folk in Sunnyvale and reckons AMD’s numbers might be even worse than the market expects.

AMD has struggled for quite some time to make serious inroads into the notebook market, while the desktop market continues to decline. This year, like last, has been truly dreadful for AMD.  AMD’s financial results for the quarter are imminent. X
