| | Recession? What recession? Bang & Olufsen's new 103 inch plasma might cost rather a lot, but the machine is packed with gimmicks that set it apart from the rest, much like the morons who will cough up $135,000 for the thing.
True you can buy a 150 inch screen for the price of a Beovision, but it looks like the intelligent TV comes alive when you switch it on.
According to the press release when the TV is turned on, the screen will elevate itself to the optimal viewing position, and the Beolab 10 centre loudspeaker will emerge underneath the screen, moving forward until it is flush with the front frame of the screen.
At the same time, the screen will turn and tilt according to the user’s preferences. When the TV goes into standby mode, the whole process is repeated in reverse; all at the touch of a button on the Beo5 remote control.
Unfortunately, it will still show the same old crap as TVs costing a fraction of the price.
The beast hits the shops in July. X
