Intellisys is planning a large-scale R&D facility in Rajarhat near Kolkata, and intends to spend $5.4 million to acquire a one-acre plot from the West Bengal government. The proposal is expected to be implemented by the R&D unit within three years.
The firm at present employs around 70 people, which will rise to 500-600 with the establishment of the facility in Rajarhat. S Chakraborty, CEO of Intellisys, said the company has bought about 5,000 sq ft of land in the DLF IT Park at Rajarhat for the R&D centre. The Rajarhat R&D unit is to be the company's flagship research facility. By entering into joint research projects with IITs and other top engineering colleges, Intellisys is planning to create a research eco-system in the country.
The company is predicting a turnover of around $65 million by March, 2011, said Chakraborty. He added that the company is to explore partnersip opportunities with global R&D institutions. Bennett Coleman & Co Ltd (BCCL), publishers of the Times of India and the Economics Times, have entered into a private treaty deal with Intellisys, with an eight per cent stake in the company.
