Intel is planning to break the price barrier for entry-level in notebook PCs. The chip giant is planning to launch a notebook that will cost less than RS12,000 ($300). The $300 notebook will be named the ‘Netbook’.

The Netbook will be powered by the Atom Processor. Intel plans to launch Atom at the Computex fair in Taiwan on June 3. It is alleged that Intel will be positioning the Netbook as just an affordable machine, which will be fully functional for all sections of society.

It is assumed that both emerging and emerged countries will form the market for the Netbook. For emerging countries like India, Brazil and China, affordability will be the key and, people looking forward to buy an additional pc at a lower price in developed countries.

Intel estimates the price of the Netbook to be below $300 but the final price will depend on the hardware manufacturers that implement it. X
