Blessed be the IT firm that takes away pain from the holy men of The Lord.

TFL is one such company that brought succour to the monks of the abbey on Caldey island, near Tenby, South Wales. The wireless telecom company with its base in Pembrokeshire has set up a 30MB wireless internet link to help the religious community to develop its retail business, writes Debopriya Nandy.

Prior to the installation of the Internet connection, the monastry’s transactions have been suffering. Commodities including perfumes, chocolates, and DVDs depicting on lives of the tech-savvy brothers were on sale through a six year old Website.

TLF added a two-way radio communication system, WLAN design, and installation to give the monks wireless access to the Web.

Father Daniel, the Abbot of Caldey Abbey, said that their power of endurance was fast running out due to their ancient Internet connection. Now after being rescued from the slough of despond dial-ups their plan is to extend the commercial activities, using the new high-speed commercial links. X
