Israel recruits blogger army

Targets anti-Zionist sites

By Nick Farrell in Rome @ Wednesday, January 21, 2009 7:15 AM

The Israeli government is establishing what it calls an army of bloggers to target "anti-Zionist blogs" in English, French, Spanish and German.
The task has been assigned to the Immigrant Absorption Ministry, which is calling on new Israelis who speak a second language to do their bit for the "war effort". According to the Haaretz newspaper, the ministry's director general decided to approach all those immigrants who had a second mother tongue to help in the project.

Volunteers who send the Absorption Ministry their contact details by email, at media@moia.gov.il, will be registered according to language, and then passed on to the Foreign Ministry's media department.

They are then referred to websites considered by the Israelis to be "problematic".  The volunteers then fill the site with a pro-Israeli view. X
