| | The Kiwi teen who created some of the world's nastiest botnet software was given a plumb job training to a telco how to avoid others of his kind.
Owen Thor Walker, 19, who worked under the name Akill designed 'botnets' that beat anti-virus software, which spread automatically, and it destroyed rival bot codes.
His software nobbled 1.3 million computers until he was caught. Walker pleaded guilty to six cyber crime charges but the Kiwi courts did not convict him.
Justice Potter ordered him to pay a share of damages caused to hacked computers and to stay away from computers.
Telstraclear spokesman Chris Mirams told the Waikato Times they had contracted Walker for seminars and advertising which had been completed by late last year.
Walker did not have access to computers of the Telstraclear network.
However, Mirams said he was a good bloke who was pleasant to deal with and he genuinely wanted to help New Zealand businesses by sharing experiences. X
