Lenovo eyes global desktop market

PCs fight bugs, recognise faces

Keeping an eye on the global market for consumer desktops, Lenovo has launched the Ideacentre K210 desktop to mark its ambitions outside China following the announcement of its IdeaPad series of notebooks. These announcements show the Chinese company’s clear intent to extend its presence globally with consumer notebook business.

The new range of Lenovo’s Ideacentre and Ideapad products the growing demand of consumer PCs worldwide. Analysts believe growth will exceed 10% by the end of 2011. Lenovo claims to be the only player that offers “Bright Vision” which is capable of detecting the distance between the user and the monitor and accordingly adjusts the brightness, it says here.

Among the other features Ideacentre K210 is equipped with Veriface3 facial recognition technology that enables the user to log in by getting his/her face recognized. The K210 is the only desktop PC to offer this distinctive feature; anti-microbial keyboard to fight keyboard germs.

The starting price of Ideacentre K210 is $379. The L195W, 19-inch monitor is priced at $229 (after mail-in-rebate). The L222W, 22-inch monitor is priced at $299 (after mail-in-rebate). X
