The Malaysian government has kicked off a campaign to target China's lucrative IT sector with an official visit to Pudong Software Park.
MDEC business development director Rob Cayzer told Bernama that the "MSC Malaysia Goes Global in China"initiative was designed to focus on potential aspects of Malaysia's burgeoning IT infrastructure.
"China is a complex market because of its size and nature of the economy. Each market is different and has its way of doing business. It can take up to five years for successful partnerships to develop. IT business needs a lot of stamina. You have to understand the market," said Cayzer.
It should be noted that India's Satyam Computer Services recently announced plans to increase the scope of its operations in Malaysia. The corporation will reportedly add a sprawling 14-acre complex to the Global Solutions Centre campus in Cyberjaya. Pavan Mullapudi of Satyam explained that the demand for customer service will continue despite the economic slowdown.
"We have 500 people working at the centre now. The additions to the complex will include 2,000 more staff, mostly developers," said the optimistic VP of Satyam's Global Solutions Centre.
According to Mullapudi, Malaysia boasts some of the best software talent in Southeast Asia. "There are some gaps in communication skills but the technical know-how is there," he said. X
