Micro Technologies launched its software, micro students attendance management system (Microsams), an automated system for access, attendance and effective communication.
Dr Vijay Khole, vice chancellor Mumbai University said that SAMS would ensure maximum student attendance and would increase retention rates of lectures. He added that the software would also ensure transparency to the parents regarding the performance and attendance of their wards, which is not easy to maintain otherwise. The software also minimises the time involved in administrative work.
Educational institutions have realized the need to equip themselves with workable strategies towards cost effective and efficient communication system. With nearly 1.2 million recognized institutions and more than 6000 premium grade universities and colleges in India, attracting students is a challenge for newly opened institutes. A number of institutes are opting for emerging technologies to gain a competitive advantage. However, it is not just the new institutes which are adopting IT. Even the well-established institutions opt for technology to efficiently manage their vast infrastructure, communication and other administrative related issues.
Important features of Microsams include database management with attendance record of student and lecturer remotely from various locations across the globe at one single point. The authorised administrator can use the software to remotely view all the relevant details. Microsams generates various management information systems reports in order to take prompt action related to attendance. The software uses radiofrequency identification/biometric based login and logout for lecturer, students and guest lecturers with image captured using webcam for attendance.
The system alerts the administrator about the discrepancy. It can also send SMS/Email alert to the authorised user. The administrator can save the complete information of the students according to the class with their contact details such as mobile numbers of their parents and can send a single message to multiple users at one go. The software can also send weekly update about the ward's attendance, performance and intimation to the parents for important notices through mobile alerts and emails. It can also be integrated with digital notice board in the institution premises. X
